Abstract
Diarrhea is a common cause of death in developing countries and the second most common cause of infant deaths worldwide. The loss of fluids through diarrhea can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Hence, the aim in the present study was to evaluate the effect of elemental zinc in treatment of diarrhea in children. 100 diarrheic patients (50 females) aged from 1-12 years old collected from the-clinics of pediatric department at Beni suef University Hospital, were divided into two equal groups. Group A received elemental Zinc in the form of Zinc Sulphate (10 mg elemental Zinc daily for infants and 20 mg for children) with the normal diarrhea treatment. Group B received the normal anti-diarrhea treatment only. There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding most of the parameters studied. However, the mean±SD recovery time in group A was significantly higher (p-value=0.019) than in group B. However, when antibiotic alone was used as anti-diarrheal treatment the recovery time in days in group A was less than in group B but with no significant difference. The expected beneficial efficacy of elemental Zinc in the form of Zinc Sulphate on the duration and severity of acute diarrhea was not observed. However, the study showed that Zinc may be effective in diarrhea due to bacterial infections.

Abstract
The effect of cigarette smoking on cartilage grafts implanted to rabbit ear is investigated on New Zealand White rabbits. Eight animals for each experimental and control groups were maintained. Cartilage grafts were taken from the left ear and implanted as smaller pieces to paraspinal soft tissues bilaterally in each animal. Cartilage fragments were implanted as intact, crushed for once or twice to the six paraspinal soft tissue sites. The duration of the experiment was 12 weeks. One group was exposed to cigarette smoke in a special chamber for 4 hours a day continuously during this period. Cartilage grafts on one paraspinal site were examined microscopically. At the end of the 12th week the grafts on the other side were all excised and examined microscopically in respect to viability, sclerosis, osteoid formation and regeneration. Statistically significant differences were not found between the groups except intact and crushed grafts on the 12 week smoking model in regard to viability which was less in the crushed cartilages. Our finding in this experimental model suggests a negative effect of cigarette smoking on crushed cartilage grafts which opens a door to further experimental models and clinical observations.

Abstract
MSAF is more common in primi gravidas as compared to multi gravidas. Postdatism, PIH, Eclampsia, IUGR, Oligohydromnios, PROM are main associating factors with occurrence of MSAF. ANC has limited role in preventing MSAF. Incident of abnormal fetal heart rate is 4 times and of variable heart rate is 5 times higher in MSAF group from control group. Most of the cases with abnormal heart rate pattern exhibit thick meconium and show significant association of fetal distress with character of meconium. Aggressive active management is required depending upon the character of meconium, heart rate pattern, stage of labour, expected time taken in delivery facility of neonatal care in place of delivery. Amnioinfusion is simple, safe and inexpensive procedure with almost nil complications though it does not decrease rate of cesarean section to statistically significant extent.

Abstract
Wide range lesions may occur in the vulvar region. The aim of the present study is to have an insight into the diverse morphologic spectrum of vulvar lesions. Total of 263 patients with primary vulvar complaints seen in Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Outpatient Clinic were recruited into study. The present retrospective study was carried out by compiling the data from archival records from January 2010 to May 2014. The vulvar biopsies specimens were studied for histomorphological features. The lesions were categorized as non-neoplastic, neoplastic and inconclusive; neoplastic ones were further divided into benign, malignant and premalignant. The age of the women ranged from 11 to 85 years (mean 46.27±14.32) with the maximum number of patients between 41 to 50 years of age. Most common clinical presentation was itching (126 cases; 47.9%). The commonest site of vulvar lesions was labia majora (145 cases, 55.1%). Non neoplastic lesions were more common (n = 172; 65.4%) than the neoplastic lesions (n =91; 34.6%). There were 81 (30.8%) benign lesions while 10 cases (3,8%) were malignant or premalignant ones. Amongst the non-neoplastic lesions, the most common histopathologic diagnosis was of lichen sclerosus et atrophicus (46 cases; 17,5%). Early recognition of vulvar lesions and a prompt biopsy diagnosis for all lesions with suspicious changes is of great significance.

Abstract
The legislation on patients’ rights in the world and in Turkey has guaranteed the right of choosing their health care practitioners for patients. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the viewpoints of physician assistants of Ege University Faculty of Medicine (EUFM) about the effect of physician’s gender on choosing the physician. After taken the permission from EUFM Ethic Committee of Clinic Researches, this study was performed with 100 voluntary physician assistants who work in EUFM. In this context, a questionnaire was performed. Survey responses were evaluated with statistical program. 51 participants were males and 49 were females, the average age was 28.8±3.6. 72% expressed that gender should not be a criteria while choosing the physician. 62% of the respondents mentioned that there was an increase according to the gender of physician. 17% of physician mentioned that their gender had a negative effect to their careers. Taken cognizance of the socio-cultural structure of our country it is thought that coming to the forefront of physicians’ gender in the patients’ selection of their physicians would cause many problems in the health care system notably related to diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Abstract
Owing to the fact that the healthcare personnel and the individuals responsible for those teams take part at the first step of chain of custody, their tasks and activity is of prime importance. Besides a complete examination and treatment for forensic cases, they are also in charge of collection and transfer of the biological samples having an evidential value in line with the attorney generalship or court notices and demands. In this study, it’s aimed to investigate the knowledge levels of emergency medical personnel about the collection, storage, protection and transfer of biological materials having an evidential reasoning that are obtained from forensic cases. The study data includes the responses of 102 voluntary persons to a 10-question survey. The research results reveal that even though the emergency medical personnel considers that they fulfill their share for forensic incidents, it’s found out that they have inadequate information and awareness for collection, storage and transfer of the biological samples from forensic cases.

Abstract
Adolescence and young adulthood are periods that increase in violent behaviors. Perceived by the victims directly and those who witness the violence is important for the development personality, attitudes and behaviors. The aim of this study is to invesitigate the relationship between self-esteem characteristics of adolescents and exposure to physical violence in a semi-rural area. This is the cross-sectional survey was conducted in a semi rural area of Malatya. Hekimhan District Centre and randomly selected three town 410 adolescents were included in the study. The researc data was collected a survey and “Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale”(RSS) developed by Çuhadar (1986) was applied under supervision. Unpaired t-test and regression analysis were used for data analysis. 60.2% male and 39.8% were female of 410 adolescents. 33.7% primary and 66.3% high school education of adolescents has been attending. From the adolescents 41.3% at home, 41.9% in school, 41.5% in the street, stated that they had experienced physical violence. Self-esteem scores of 58.3 % of male adolescents were in the range of 0-2 (high), of 35.2 % was in the range of 3-4 (moderately) and of 6.5 % in the range of 5-6 (low). Scores of 65.0 of female adolescents were in the range of 0-2, of 25,8 % was in 3-4 and of 9.2 % in 5-6 respectively. There was no statistical difference between self –esteem scores of adolescents and gender (p>0.05). The low but there was a significant correlation between self-esteem of adolescents and exposure to physical violence at school (r = 0.13, p = 0.05).The standardized regression coefficient is interpreted, as a one-unit increase at the self-esteem score were lead to, an increase of 11.2 % the exposure to physical violence in school adolescents (F = 7.892, p = 0.005 In contrast, there was no a relationship between self-esteem levels of adolescents and exposure to physical violence at home (t=-.303; p=0.762). As conclussion; in this study was found a significant relationship between self-esteem levels and physical violence at school. The consciousness-raising programs for adolescents, parents and teachers are needed.

Abstract
Various studies have confirmed toxic effects of monosodium glutamate in different organs. The review of literatures about influence of MSG on the male reproductive system shows the variety of tissue damages. Most of these changes mainly manifested by increased oxidative stress and cytotoxicity. The present study was aimed to investigate the possible protective effects of herbal antioxidants (Morus Alba) on the tissue damages related to monosodium glutamate cytotoxicity. Forty-eight adult Wistar rats were divided into two control and experimental groups. Each group divided into short (14 days) and long term (28 days) group. Experimental group was subdivided into four subgroups. The experimental group was injected with MSG (4 mg/kg BW, i.p.). Morus Alba extract (100 mg/kg BW) was administrated to two MSG treated experimental subgroups. At the end of study, the right testis was processed for histological evaluation and the left one was processed for sperm analysis and morphometric studies. Decrease of spermatogenic indices was accompanied with the changes in histomorphology of seminiferous tubules in MSG treated groups. Moreover, the sperm analysis indices were decreased in MSG treated rats. These changes were more obvious in long term treatments. The administration of Morus Alba extract led to improvement in histologic and spermatogenic indices. The most observable improvement in tissue changes was obtained by long term treatment with Morus Alba extract. The present study suggests that the administration of Morus Alba extract can preserve the positive effects in reduction of testicular tissue alterations in Monosodium glutamate tissue toxicity.
